Jesus the Passover Lamb

Exodus chapter twelve records the very first Jewish Passover.  The blood of a slain lamb was to be brushed onto the door posts of the house so those living inside could escape the final plague of death.  If God saw the blood he would “pass – over” that house and they would be free from his judgment. The Israelites were responsible to comply if they expected to receive the blessing of deliverance and freedom.

That ancient lamb served as a foreshadowing for the coming Lamb of God.  Jesus, as the Passover Lamb would also be slain.  His blood would be shed and become the source of freedom for all humanity.

The question needing an answer, however, is how does one get Jesus’ blood on the doorposts of their heart?  How is it applied?  How does one know if God views the Lamb’s blood when he looks at their spiritual house?  This lesson seeks to address these eternally significant questions by looking to the Word of God for an explanation of how we can know the blood of the Lamb has rescued us from the “second death.”
