Affirmations of Spiritual Commitment – Walking In Meekness
The path of those who wish to walk like Jesus is truly a road less traveled. Jesus said it was narrow and few would find it. As we study the attitudes and actions which offer affirmation to spiritual commitment, we are introduced to a very narrowing demand on that pathway – MEEKNESS!
Meekness is unique because the original Greek word is difficult to accurately give an English equivalent. Does it demonstrate weakness? Is it tied to some form of self-abasement? The first objective of this study will be to seek an appropriate definition of meekness. We do so with the knowledge that Jesus provides the perfect personification of meekness.
Once we have an idea of what a meek Jesus is, we are prepared to witness how He lived every moment of his earthly life under the philosophy of meekness. It is spiritually moving to realize how penetrating this philosophy was in the person of the Christ!
Lastly, our study will look at how meekness is observable within the actions of Jesus. The Savior stepped down from His place of glory, became fully humble, and exchanged being in charge for fulfilling a charge!
The path of following the Master begins with the attitudes and actions of meekness. Thankfully we have the opportunity to with “unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory”…”and be transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory…” (2 Cor. 3:18).
