The Power of Grace
Rebuilding the wall around ancient Jerusalem was far from the end-goal of Nehemiah. Following fifty-two days the wall is completed and Nehemiah can be about the greater and more significant task – rebuilding the people.
The walls were but a symbol of what had happened to the people of Israel. Their service and surrender to God had wained, resulting in their unprotected hearts being carried away by the enemy. They needed to be restored, rebuilt and revived. Nehemiah was ready to move from the physical to the spiritual.
The Second Law of Thermodynamics establishes how energy is lost within the physical world. All closed systems are being depleted and running down because of the sacrifice of energy. Entropy, the actual description of the loss, also has a spiritual application. Believers find their closed system of spirituality grows weary and is depleted by elements of the human experience.
It is key to living in the grace of God, to find a means to revive the energy. Some method must be found to expand the spiritual energy level beyond self. There must we a way to plug into the power of grace!
