The Prayer of Grace
Within his painful situation Nehemiah found himself ready to seek the grace of God. Such is the benefit of most hurtful times, they prepare the soil of the heart for the seed of God’s all sufficient grace.
In this lesson we will find the pain-prepared soul of Nehemiah allowing the seedling of grace to begin to grow through the nourishment of prayer. Nehemiah will not pray any ordinary prayer. Nothing from rote leaves his lips. The sweet aroma rising to the Father is a very specific prayer asking the God of grace to send His grace upon Israel’s distraught situation. Three elements will be revealed in Nehemiah’s prayer:
- The salutation will be centered on the CHARACTER OF GOD!
- The body of a grace-prayer reveals the unworthy CHARACTER OF NEHEMIAH!
- The valediction voices Nehemiah’s CLAIM GOD’S PROMISE OF GRACE!
