The Place of Grace

The footings needed for building this year’s theme: “His Grace Reaches Me,”  need to be dug deeply by establishing the “Place of Grace.”   This introductory lesson examines the place were grace begins and the purposes existing for grace.

  • God is the place where grace STARTS.   He is the “God of all grace” (1 Pet. 5:10).  He is wholly and completely grace.  God is grace (noun) and God extends grace (verb).   He is completely grace and He gives grace completely!
  • God’s grace is a place of SALVATION.   It is, “the grace of God that brings salvation” which has appeared to all men (Tit. 2:11).   God’s grace is an instructional grace.  It educates those living within it how to say no to all that is ungodliness and worldly passions.   It teaches grace-livers how to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in their present environment.  Thus, God’s grace is the means by which he redeems the wicked and purifies His people.
  • The grace of God is intended to be a place to STAND.  Grace is no house of cards which crumbles beneath the lives of imperfect followers.  It is suppose to be a place of firm stability.
  • Grace is also to be a place of STEADFASTNESS.   Troublesome situations and tumultuous suffering do not negate God’s grace.  Paul identifies that such sufferings weakened him so that God could perfect His power and he concluded that it was when he was personally weak that God’s grace was fully sufficient (2 Cor. 12:7-12).

David Jeremiah has written, “Grace – it’s a stained-glass impersonal word until it happens to you…Until you have been broken beyond belief and need a miracle for your soul… that’s when God’s relentless, amazing, very personalized grace find you.”   This lesson encourages us to allow our lives to fully experience the grace of God.  It is so much more than a concept of theology to be embedded in one’s mind.  It is an experience from Theos to be experienced in one’s heart!
