Jesus Walked in Mergence
Past lessons have revealed that the life-walk of Jesus was one which was :
- Meek
- Mission focused
- and Measured by trial
Today we see that Jesus was also one who demonstrated an ability to accept others and merge into their lives and allow them to merge into His.
Jesus then serves as a MOTIVATION for our own merging challenges. It is “in Him” that we learn to not hurt or distress each other. It is by walking as He walked that we are motivated to rise above issues of grief, sadness, sour thoughts and annoyances to learn and practice mutual acceptance.
Jesus also provides an active MODEL and demonstration of what this kind of acceptance is about. He merged with people who were considered totally unacceptable by others. He called into His circle tax collectors, women, children, the racially diverse, the spiritually arrogant and spiritually deceived.
Jesus, however, is more than a motivation and model of accepting others. He also gives some very straight and forward MESSAGES to us about imitating His practice. Biblical acceptance is corrupted when we believe we are still entitled to grumble and gossip about others. Acceptance is more than going through motions of tolerance while wishing on the inside that we didn’t have to. And it is so much more than being willing to accept others only as long as we hold out hope that we can change them.
This lesson seeks to examine what Jesus has done to secure His body as a place of mutual acceptance and tolerance. It challenges those who desire to walk in His steps to be motivated by the model of the Master and obey the message He has delivered for disciples who wish to be like Him.
