Transformational Love Takes a New “Self-Talk”
Self-love is the natural path taken by every human being. We have no intuitive power to alter our love of self. Stepping out of this selfishness means we stop being controlled by fears, realize it all has to start with us, and demonstrate a willingness to humbly submit.
These alterations clear the way for experiencing the transformational love of God. We discover it by: counting our blessings, witnessing God’s love as it is expressed by others, looking to God’s love as it is seen in the past, see God’s love demonstrated at the cross, and make the choice to believe God wants to love you.
Yet the painful truth is that those wanting to live in the power and joy of God’s transformational love often do not feel like they are achieving that goal. One possible reason for the gap between what we want and what we think we have, is that our “self-talk” is too corrupt to be open to the full glory of transformed living.
This lesson presents several points: 1) the power of self-talk, 2) the illusive nature of negative self-talk, and 3) three suggestions which will aid in developing a new self-talk language.
