A Safe Church Avoids the Contaminators
The second letter Paul writes to his “son in the faith” Timothy, is constructed with the intensity found in anyone’s last words. He shares from his heart those things he believes will be of eternal benefit to his young friend and evangelist.
In the third chapter Paul outlines some of the environment that will be present during the difficult times of the “last days.” As one reads through his description, it is easy to see why so many believe these are those last days. The social ills of America and those which plague our world easily cause one to reach such a conclusion.
However, is that what Paul is referencing? Is he speaking of the corruption of the human social standard or does he have something else in mind. Two reasons for possibly reaching a different conclusion will be shared in this study. This lesson will explore Paul’s list of attitudes and actions which become the “Contaminators.” The lesson concludes with a personalized paraphrase if 2 Tim. 3:1-8 in hopes of seeing how individual Christians are responsible for avoiding these contaminations.
