What Must I Do to be Saved?
In all of history no greater question has ever been asked than the one asked by a Philippian jailor in Acts the sixteenth chapter.
He has heard the songs of Paul and Silas, prisoners under his care. He has felt the earthquake and seen the opened cell doors. Knowing his life will be demanded for the escaped prisoners, he decides to do that job himself.
It is the voice of Paul which interrupts the process. “We are all here. Don’t harm yourself.” Motivated by what he has heard, felt, and seen the man knows there is something special about the voice that now stops his self-destruction.
He asks, “Sirs what must I do to be saved?” In this lesson we will look at how his query is answered within the text and the broader context of the entire New Testament.
