Barnabas – How He Provided Encouragement
The apostles chose to nickname Joseph, “son of encouragement.” This lesson begins to look at how he gained that nickname. What had Barnabas worked to become and how did he labor to encourage others.
We will first find that he provides a vital exhibition of what an encourager’s heart and attitude ought to be. Barnabas worked to develop a mindset which grew him into the son of encouragement.
Secondly, we will see that Barnabas provides a visual example of what an encourager does. Like many spiritual people of Scripture, Barnabas’ activity showed his encouraging character.
Lastly, we find that Joseph provides a visual expression of what it means to be an encourager. He specifically stepped into the situation with the new convert named Saul and uses expression to provide support for this zealous new convert.
