Walking Worthy of our Calling
Through the year our theme, “J-walking” has led us to ask questions about our level of commitment to walking like Jesus. Our queries have included such challenges as am I a fan or follower, an actor or authentic, living in spiritual moments or the spirit’s leading, and is my connection with Jesus purely intellectual or formulated upon a deep desire for intimacy?
We then began an examination of the walk of Jesus. We discussed characteristics of His journey such as how He walked in meekness, lived with a sense of mission, endured being measured by the devil’s trials, experienced all forms of human misfortune, how He practiced mercy, showed the magnanimity of forgiveness, and the patient melioration and then finally how He m-plored the Father in prayer.
As the end of the year approaches we want to present specific encouragement to all J-walkers in their efforts to walk as Jesus walked. This lesson explains how walking in a worthy manner of our calling is a major factor in following the steps of Jesus. In this study we will discover that all J-walkers have a calling which:
- provides every tool necessary to faithfully follow Jesus
- gives perfect instructions for constructing a life of service to Jesus
- these tools and instructions provide all that is needed to build a transformed you
- the power to accomplish this transformation is not within humanity but provided by the Creator
Understanding the unique and powerful “calling” Christians have experienced is the foundation to encourage them in their sanctifying stroll to walk like the Savior. Walking in a manner worthy of that calling changes not only the journey’s path but the life-journey.
