What Would Jesus Teach – In Sardis?

Jesus taught some extremely pointed lessons to seven Asian churches.   Those messages are recorded by John in the book of Revelation.  Thus far we have looked at what He had to say to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, and Thyatira. 

This lesson begins our look at the message to the church at Sardis.  This body had a “reputation of being alive” Rev. 3:1.  Who could ask for anything more positive.  A lively church!  And people knew it.  Yet, Jesus’ challenge hits hard,  “but you are dead.”

A dead church.  What a crippling concept.  What a disastrous reality.
