Hating Sin
Charles Spurgeon once addressed believers with these words, “You have good reason to hate evil, for only consider what harm it has already done to you. Oh, what a world of mischief sin has brought into your heart! Sin blinded you so that you could not see the beauty of the Savior; it made you deaf so that you could not hear the Redeemer’s tender invitations. Sin turned your feet into the way of death, and poured poison into the very foundation of your being. It tainted your heart, and made it “deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked.”
This study asks the question, How much do you hate the sin in your life? We have seen in our readings how complacent Israel became about their own sinfulness. The consequences for being so at peace with their sin were grave and far reaching.
We will look at five reasons to despise the fleshly sinfulness that continues to fight against one’s spiritual development:
- Sin CORRUPTS one’s living environment
- Sin takes CONTROL of one’s life
- Sin creates SELF-HATRED
- Sin cripples the human contribution to EVANGELISM
- Sin brings DEATH
